What are Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils?

Essential Oils are becoming more popular. You can find them online and in your local co-op stores. With so many brands becoming more available, what is so special about Therapeutic Grade?

Essential oils are the distilled oils from plants, flowers, shrubs, stems, and buds. Starting with the quality of the seed, the quality of the soil, each plant can have different qualities that make a great oil or a poor oil.

As each plant is harvested, the distillation process also plays a key role in therapeutic grade vs perfume grade. In creating perfumes, distillers are run for a short amount of time and at a higher heat. For therapeutic grade oils, distillation process takes longer, at a lower heat and no pressure. This perserves the small, delicate molecules that promote this oil into the Therapeutic class.

At Young Living there are no fillers, synthetics or extenders added to their oils. Each single oil is 100% pure essential oil. On the Young Living farms there are never any chemical fertilizers, fungicides, pesticides or insectides used. Young Living plants are 100% chemical-free.

Because of this, we can use these oils to help improve our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual lives.

Let's look at Lavender Oil. I was at Gary Young's St Maries, Idaho Lavender farm a few years ago and we helped harvest the lavender plants. They were havested at peak time and placed in the huge distiller. The distiller was fired up and ran well over 30 minutes and there were still drops of oil coming from the plants. Gary explained that if he were distilling the lavender for perfume, he would have stopped the distilling after just 15 minutes. That's when the quantity of oil starts to decrease and it becomes too expensive to keep running the distiller. However, Gary found out that between 15 and 40 minutes of distilling is when many crucial key molecules are released from the plants and then end up in our oils.

The Seeds, the Soil, the Purity and Potency, the expertise in distilling all add up to Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils.

Try one and experience the difference.
